Gluttony Conquers All - Triple Threats

So, here we find ourselves one more time. Creating. Tasting. Adjusting. More tasting (clearly the best part). Giving to be sampled and critiqued. Finally, V2.0 ready to be shared with the world.
Since I was young, I have always loved to create sweet things, and often, made for friends what have been lovingly come to be known as HMB's (Home Made Blizzards). The early days we used to get really baked, and living in the basement with a sticked freezer (thanks mom) I would create late night treats for the boys after a long night. We often named them and regaled in the glory of a sugar overload. "Tokyo" and "Hella sweet" we amongst some of the favourites. Baking is a more recent phenomena in my world, but this too I enjoy.
Now, however, we find ourselves in new territory, in uncharted waters, and with a creation that (before about 30 mins ago) had no name but "X" Balls. Last winter I made this Chocolate Ball Surprise recipe from The Food Network. I didnt follow exactly as I am not fond of measuring, and I added Nutella as half of the PB amount. One friend was heard to exclaim "These are the best things I have put in my mouth, ever!" With this in mind and my BFF's birthday around the corner, I decided to take this recipe and bastardize it into my own creation. Who wouldn't want something for their birthday that was created with love in the kitchen?

Triple Threats or "XXX" Balls

  • 1/2 c. Unsalted Butter
  • 2 c. Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 2 c. Sugar
  • 3 c Honey Grahams - crushed but chunky
  • 2 c. Oreo Baking Crumbs
  • 1 1/2 c. Chocolate Chips

Mix together butter, peanut butter, and sugar.

Add the rest of the ingredients and combine.

Refrigerate, minimum 2 hours or until solid.

Roll between your palms until they are about the size of a golf ball, making sure to clean your hands when they get sticky. Work relatively quickly, as the mix comes to room temperature it gets tough to work with.

Freeze overnight.

Test bloodsugar, and if safe, taste.

As an option, if you really want to go crazy, you can melt some dark chocolate and dip the balls in the chocolate, but be sure to freeze them first for an hour or two to make them easier to work with.
So, in honour of my BFF (love you) and seeing as it is Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) where sweet things are tradition I will be bringing these treats to my family dinners this week.
Look out people!

Peace, Love, and Ice Cream

  1. I being the BFF and all must say, that I have never ever EVER had such delicious balls in my mouth. I only hope to enjoy more of jays balls. Also can we find an alternative for the PB intolerant. Sucks that Oni can't enjoy them, so lets get him some other balls to have. Patiently awaiting future ball concoctions.
